FAESSEN, MOLLY

On April 12th, 2016 at the Kingston General Hospital, Molly Faessen peacefully entered into rest surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 77. Molly will be sadly missed by children Nancy (Vasco) and Adam (Angela) and her three adoring grandchildren Sarah, Martin and David. She was predeceased by loving husband Martin. Molly will be missed by brother Roy Billinton (Joyce), sister Nancy Gamble (Samuel), predeceased by brother Jack Billinton(surviving Marilyn). She is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and lifetime friends, Ann (the late John) Grant and children Ian (Myrla), Susan (Gary), Colin and Joann who were considered family.

Molly was born in Leeds England May 15, 1938, daughter to parents Edwin (Ted) Billinton and Nettie Billinton. In 1953, she emigrated to Canada from England, residing in Winnipeg from 1953 to 1956; Montreal from 1956-1967. She lived the last years of her life in Spencerville, ON. Molly met the love of her life Martin while working at Pratt and Whitney as a secretary in Montreal. They moved to Spencerville opening a Nursery business – Windmill Gardens. Molly was well known as the flower lady at the Brockville farmers market. Molly also worked at Kemptville Hospital as a secretary.

Molly’s life was devoted to Girl Guides for 70 years, starting as a Brownie in England. To many she was known as Brown Owl (45 years) in Spencerville and enjoyed leading the Brownie Revel. She finished her guiding career as a member of the Trefoil Guild. She loved to travel, representing Girl Guides Canada in trips to Finland, Switzerland, Mexico, England and India. In her youth she spent time backpacking around Europe for a year. Travelling took Molly twice to Kenya to volunteer in an orphanage. Her life was full of volunteer activities with the Friends of the Spencerville Library, Spirit of Giving, Spencerville Mill and numerous others. She will be remembered by the community for all she gave. Even in her last days, Molly has donated her body to science to assist others with understanding the disease that took her life. The family would like to thank the staff a Brockville General and Kingston General Hospitals.

At Molly’s request there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held with interment at St. Laurence O’Toole Cemetery. Arrangements have been trusted to the care of the MACKAY Funeral Home 416 Dibble St. West Prescott.
