Meeting Mrs. Robinson for the first time

Meeting Mrs. Robinson for the first time was a very special moment for me, she was such a wonderful person and made me feel at home (even though I was nervous). I knocked on the door and she called to come in, I introduced myself and told her what I was there for and she told me to go and sit in the lazy boy chair by the patio door.  We watched a bit of the hockey game (really loud volume) and eventually started up a conversation.  The more times I went to see her the more she would tell me stories of what it was like when she was growing up (5 cents for a loaf of bread, using ice blocks to keep things cold, heating with coal).  The places that she worked when she was growing up and what she had to do to earn her money.  I loved hearing Mrs. Robinson tell her stores, I could and did sit for hours just listening to her.  She was a very special lady.  There were times that when I knocked she called "come in" and then would proceed to tell me "no one was home".  She would always great me with a smile, I couldn't believe some of the jokes she would tell me and the things that would come out of her mouth.  I know that she constantly talked about her children whom she all loved them dearly and were so proud of all four of them.  Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart as well, we would look through the calendar on her wall and she would tell me who they all were.  The nights that I was there to help cook meals, she would always be in the kitchen with me to supervise what I was doing.  Sounds corny but Mrs. Robinson was the first person to teach me how to make a white sauce.  I tried to make some different meals for her to give her a variety but we always went back to the meat and potates.  I asked her a few times if she remembered who I was and I was told "I don't remember your name but I remember your face".  Mrs. Robinson was such a special lady and a wonderful woman and I am so blessed to have gotten to know her and spent time with her, this world is truly going to miss her.

My deepest sympathies go out to Barbara, Edward, George and Ruth and all of the Robinson family members.  Thank you for allowing me to come into your mom's home and be a part of her life.
